Bach Ma National Park is located in the two provinces of Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam, covering the area of 37,487ha.

According to the surveys on biodiversity, there are 1.715 species of Fauna in Bach Ma National Park (7% of the total number of species in the country). The fauna is very diverse of many endemic, rare, precious species including 1029 insect species, 57 fish species, 134 Reptile-Amphibian species. Especially, the park has 363 types of bird and 132 types of mammal.

The result of inventory in 2011 shows that there are 69 species listed in the Vietnam Red Book. The typical species are such as Red-shanked Dource langur (Pygathrix nemaeus), Wolf Fire (Cuon alpinus), Binturong 

(Arctictis binturong), Leopard (Panthera pardus), Sao la (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis), Truong Son muntjak (Caninmuntiacus truongsonensis), Edward pheasant (Lophura Edwardsii), Moc python (Python molurus), drain snake (Ptyas korros), Box Turtle (Indochinese box turtle), Big-headed turtle (Platysternon megacephalum), flowers eels (Anguilla marmorata), etc.

There are 15 endemic species, mainly accounted for 13 bird species such as Lophura nycthemera, Lophura Edwards, Arborophila merlini, Arborophila rufoguralis,… and the horned viper and the Indochinese box turtle

Two bee species considered as being new to science were discovered and named as Bach Ma such as Spinaria bachmaensis Achterberg and Vietorogas bachmaensis Long.

Bach Ma National Park has 2,373 species of plants and mushrooms, of which 73 species listed in the Vietnam Red Book. The typical species such as Fokienia hodginsii, Aquilaria crassna, Sindora tonkinensis, Sindora siamensis, Hopea pierrei, Anoectochilus roxburghii, Paris polyphylla, etc.

There are 204 endemic species, including Podocarpus imbricatus, Schefflera pacoensis, Canarium subulatum, Diplopanax vietnamensis, Elaeocarpus angustifolius, Rhododendron fortunei, Glochidion bachmaensis, Cryptocarya annamensis, Strychnos dinhensis, etc.

There are 5 new species discovered and named as Bach Ma as follows: Cissus bachmaensis Gagnep., Elaeocarpus bachmaensis Gagnep., Licuala bachmaensis Henderson, N.K.Ban & N.Q.Dung, Calamus bachmaensis Henderson, N.K.Ban & N.Q.Dung, Glochidion bachmaensis Thin.
